Eff Reality: Everything Is Awesome

So, who’s the brosif?

Tycen: the super nerd cultured one. he’s here to supply the more indie based view of what we review. Let’s be real. He knows more of what he’s talking about than I do…

And the little sister?

Jesek: The more mainstream part of the critiques. As well as the editing/maintenance of the blog. Born and raised on my older siblings’ weird movies, I find myself trying to balance between liking what I wanna like and not being a complete social outcast.

“Ink” - Lions, Tigers, and Nightmares. Oh My.

Tyrone:

Short answer: I loved INK.

Longer answer: This movie is incredibly touching and heartfelt despite some very sinister themes. Visually it is fantastic with its own style and nice special effects that dont have to be in your face to make a difference. For a low budget movie the fight choreography is very good and goes well with the cinematography. I had it in my queue on Netflix for ages before I finally watched it and I couldnt be happier I did. This movie is begging you to watch it.

Jes:

Short Answer: Not my style. But seems legit…

Longer Answer: This movie is very well done and went beyond my expectations. Although it’s not a genre I really felt too connected to throughout the film, the emotion of the story and universal theme of family kept reeling me back in. The production quality was great, the acting was right on, and the plot itself was amazingly creative.

                                  ****SPOILERS ALERT****

                              The Tagteam:

J: That was the weirdest move…I’m pretty confused with all the different realities going on. But the ending was really cool!!

T: it makes me cry like a baby every single time. lol

J: haha it was very precious. But no, OK, so was him committing suicide his future if he hadn’t reconnected with emma? So that version of himself became Ink who stopped that fate from happening by saving Emma?

T: Yeah…Emma died and he killed himself but they changed his fate by making him be in that car  crash.

J: ok got it. Ya with everything going on at the end I had a hard time keeping up.

T: I didn’t think it was that hard but I loved when you find Ink is her dad and I was like waaaaaat??

J: Ya I did not see that coming at all so shock value points! And that little girl was AWESOME. It woulda been so easy for her to just be cute the whole time but it was so much more that that.

T: She’s a lion :)

J: IT WAS FREAKIN ADORABLE! Like little Simba :)…without the gazelle stampede…

T: and the bad guys are soooo creepy! and the fight choreography! and the cinematography and the way they went together was just awesome.

J: ya it was really creative in sooo many different ways. so many different effects as it progressed.

T: i just realized u said gazelle stampede….it was wildebeests…duh lol …i think… guess i need to watch Lion King since i haven’t seen it in at least like 12-15 years lol

J: hahahahaha well that’s a shame. it’s a beautiful motion picture…did my term research project on it’s historical relevance in high school…but i digress. omg. can i please tell you how the people with the lights for eyes reminded me of the little R2D2 robot in Blankman?? bahaha.

T: damn it….in my double checking about the stampede i watched Mufasa’s death and became emotional distraught then you remind me about J-5. emotional 1-2 punch right to the feels

J: hahahahahahahahahaha this is why we’re related. it’s great

T: no we are related by common lineage…THIS is why we are awesome lol

J: Well I feel like this has just gotten far far off track. So in the interest of the mission! Gimme your final thoughts on the movie as a whole! Readyyy? go!

T: far off track indeed lol but overall i would say it is easily one of the best movies that almost no one has seen…i know some people thought it was hard to keep track of with the multiple realities but i thought it had one of the most heartfelt endings i have ever seen. reiterating that the cinematography was beautiful and the fight choreography was great i couldn’t like it more

T: u know i don’t typically watch movies multiple times but i have watched Ink at least 9 or 10 times

J: wow. truth that is true love in your book… k my turn?

T: your turn

J: OK. Although this one was way too weird for me to wanna watch multiple times, I do respect it. Such an original concept in a world of constant remakes. Awesome performances and excellent technical production on all fronts. And considering the end made me extremely emotional even though I wasn’t fully sure what exactly was happening, I figure that’s a good sign. A movie has to be truly good to make you feel everything when you’re not even feeling the movie itself.

T: well put….able to make you feel something strong even when you arent able to put that feeling into words exactly and i agree with the whole original movie idea….in a world dominated by reboots, remakes, and sequels (warranted or otherwise) a truly unique movie goes a very long way

That’s a wrap on our first movie review! Thanks for reading! More to come as life permits! :)
